Surf Shop
Our new home in Vila do Porto, 73A Rua Teófilo Braga. For those coming here for the first time, the small island of Santa Maria, in the Açores archipelago. Almost in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, halfway between the Eastern US and mainland Portugal.
Our surf shop features our own . m o n k . brand as well as a tight assortment of other small sustainable & like-minded brands. You can shop our selection of ocean goods, grab a coffee, and rent a board. You can also relax in our lounge, equipped with fast-speed internet and outdoor garden.
As for surfing, we have three beaches and a handful of breaks. Notably, Anjos in the north & Praia Formosa (which we call Praia) to the south. Anjos gets mostly northern + western swells and works most of the year, though best in the winter months. Praia is best in summer, when we get swells from deep south. Both have classic point breaks, while Praia has a few beach breaks as well.
We surf + Paddle (SUP) year-round, as the water temperature averages 17-24.
To rent a board feel free to reach out ahead of time, to make sure we have what you need available, summer rentals can get busy, as well as see about current/upcming conditions and swell.
